Introduction
I have just been admitted to the Maryland Bar, as of December 2005, after completing law school at the University of Baltimore in May of 2005. My
legal interests include intellectual property and technology
transfer along with corporate and international law. I have
developed these interests through both my law school and prior
experiences. Before law school I worked in software development
and testing. I also earned a B.B.A. in international business and
an M.S. in information and telecommunications systems. In addition
to my J.D., I also earned M.B.A. at the University of Baltimore.
Practice
I have started my own law practice, the Law Offices of Matthew Blackwell
My practice areas will include:
• Bankruptcy
• Copyrights
• General Corporate Matters
• Government Contracts
• International Trade
• Licensing Agreements
• Outsourcing
• Technology
• Trademarks
Other Projects
My latest project is a website International IP Law Forum.com with some friends from law school. We are using the site to write and explore issues related to international intellectual property law.
I am still maintaining my language projects on this site.
Direction
Ideally, I would like to find a job that allows me to use my
law, business, and technology experience. This unique combination
of experience seems especially well suited to international
technology transactions. I would like to apply my experience and
knowledge in either private practice or an in-house counsel
environment.
